Welcome to St Asaph

St Asaph Cathedral The Oldest Building in St Asaph is the Cathedral founded in the 6th Century and was rebuilt in the 13th Century after its destruction by the Army of Edward the First and is reputed to be the smallest Cathedral in Britain.
Every September the Cathedral becomes home to North Wales Music Festival, enjoying the almost perfect acoustics the it provides.
The Chapter Treasury has a fine collection of religious books including the first Welsh New Testament and Bishop Morgans Welsh Bible. The Cathedral also has many exceptional stained glass windows.
H M Stanley Hospital Glan Clwyd Hospital A short walk away is the H M Stanley Hospital a former workhouse where H M Stanley (of Dr Livingstone fame) spent his youth as an orphan, this was one of several major hospitals in the area prior to the construction of Glan Clwyd Hospital.

On the coast we have the seaside resorts of Rhyl and Prestatyn which have both suffered much in resent years at the hands of local goverment.
Just inland from St Asaph is Pont Newydd Cave a neolithic hominid site which has been the subject of numerous archaeological digs lead by Dr Steven Aldhouse-Green of the Nation Museum of Wales
Moving on to my personal interest we find the free software movement based around GNU and Linux also of interest is the Windows ABI emulator Wine . and Beowolf for those with an interest in the extreme.
